If you’ve spent any time at all in the online business space, I KNOW you’ve felt the pressure to run paid ads.
I’ve felt it too.
It seems like everyone is scaling their business with ad funnels, paid traffic, and these huge ads budgets behind the scenes. When that conversation is happening all around you, it’s easy to wonder if you’re missing out – if you’re doing something wrong by not doing the same thing.
But here’s the real truth: I am NOT on team paid ads.
After joining a high-level mastermind with all of these wildly accomplished entrepreneurs in all kinds of businesses, I quickly realized I was the ugly duckling of the group for not running paid ads.
Honestly, I was EMBARRASSED about how little I had investigated and how little I was doing with paid ads.
Everyone was running paid ads. Meanwhile, I teach organic Instagram marketing. That’s my lane, and that’s what I’ve always used to grow and scale my business.
But the pressure got to me, and I thought, “Well, okay then… let’s go paid ads!” 🤷🏻♀️
So, I went all in. I even hired an expert because I wanted to do it right.
But even after all of that, I found my organic marketing converted better.
I *thought* with all of my marketing know-how and a professional managing my ads, my business would be unstoppable.
But in the end, my ads barely converted at all, and I lost a ton of money.
It was a tough #realitycheck moment.
But here’s what I learned: You don’t need paid ads to grow.
My organic strategy was the secret weapon all along. I just needed a very expensive reminder. 💸
When you have a strong organic marketing strategy, you build visibility, relationships, and sales without draining your budget. And while I will always stand by Instagram organic marketing as the most powerful and accessible route, it isn’t the only path.
Here are a few of the most popular types of organic marketing channels to grow your business FOR FREE.
First things first. Let’s start at the beginning – organic marketing refers to strategies that drive traffic and promote your business without relying on paid ads.
That’s it! So, when you hear about organic marketing vs. paid marketing, the difference is simple:
Paid marketing puts money behind your content to get instant visibility.
Organic marketing earns it through optimized content across different channels, so it reaches your target audience. Think social media posts, email newsletters, blogs, referrals, and collaborations.
All things you can do WITHOUT spending a dime on ads. 🙌🏻
Now, Instagram might be my #1 organic marketing channel, but it’s far from being the ONLY one.
There are PLENTY of other popular organic marketing examples out there to help grow your business. (More often than not, they all involve Instagram in some way, but we’ll get to that later.)
Here are some of the most common types of organic marketing. ⬇️
Social media is one of the most powerful tools for organic marketing.
Here’s why.
If you’re selling a low-ticket offer, you need thousands of eyeballs on your content to make real money. And if you’re paying to get those eyeballs, your profit margin shrinks FAST.
You’re spending hundreds (maybe even thousands) just to get people in the door. And if only a small percentage buys, you barely break even.
But on Instagram, I grow my following FOR FREE.
It’s where you get to actually connect with people and build the kind of trust that makes them want to buy from you. Through just your content, you can lead people to click through to your website or slide into your DMs to start a conversation.
All without a middleman taking a cut. 🙌🏻
But different platforms play different roles in that process.
For example, I’ve found that TikTok is best for growth.
It’s a fast way to get eyeballs on my content and reach a lot of new people in a short period of time.
Instagram and Facebook, however, are waaaay better at nurturing those new people.
In fact, a big piece of my own organic marketing strategy is to get a lot of eyes and interest on TikTok and then direct people to my Instagram to get to know me further.
(Want to learn more about growth + nurture content? This post breaks down the three types of content you need to be posting).
Meta’s messaging system is also generally better than TikTok’s. DMs don’t get lost as easily, they never get delayed, you can send links and pictures, and you don’t have to be friends with a person to message them. This gives you a chance to really have in-depth conversations with your audience and build your relationship with them before they buy from you.
Other platforms can support this process too. LinkedIn, for example, can be great if your people are hanging out there. It tends to attract a more corporate, business-minded audience.
Whichever platform you choose, social media is a great way for you to grow your audience, nurture them so you build trust over time, and even close the deal and sell to them.

Email marketing is FANTASTIC (and it definitely isn’t dead despite what you might hear!).
And in all honesty, my emails are messy. 🥴 I for sure am NOT perfect or even super strategic in my email marketing – but my emails still convert.
That alone should tell you something about the power of email. It’s a multi-billion-dollar industry with one of the highest ROIs of any marketing channel. In fact, “they” say that for every $1 you invest, you can earn anywhere between $10-36 in return!
Once you grow your list, you can build relationships and warm up your audience until they’re ready to buy.
Here’s the thing, though: you have to get people onto your list from somewhere else for your emails to work.
Sure, you can pay for ads to promote a lead magnet and collect emails that way, but then you’re essentially paying for people to get onto your list.
Why pay for something when you can do it for free?!
Your email marketing can be successful without spending a dime. You can:
But the biggest and freest way to grow your email list is through social media (aka through Instagram 😉).
My organic Instagram marketing is often where people meet me for the first time. It then drives them to my website to see my offers or subscribe to my newsletter to stay in touch.
Instagram makes the introduction, but emails close the sale.
When you pair these two types of organic marketing together, you create a BEAUTIFUL marketing ecosystem.
Another powerful form of organic marketing is guesting in other people’s worlds aka making guest appearances.
This can look like:
Basically, this is a chance for you to share what you know with another person’s audience (many times while they share to yours in exchange!). Usually, you serve the same people but do different things – so it’s a win-win.
But there’s one very important thing to remember when guesting in someone else’s space. 👇🏼
It’s NOT a good look to pitch your highest-ticket offer to the audience right away.
This is probably most people’s first interaction with you. They barely know you at this point, and the trust just isn’t there yet. So they likely won’t be ready to drop the big bucks on your high-ticket offer immediately!
Instead, you want to warm them up.
Give a lead magnet away for free or pitch a super low-ticket offer. Then, funnel them somewhere like your email list, your Instagram (or BOTH!)
Either way, once they start following you and consuming your content, trust builds naturally. And that’s when the high-ticket offers start to feel like a no-brainer.
Coming from the world of social media, I always thought blogs were something people subscribed to because they wanted to read your content every day.
I was mistaken. 🙈🤷🏻♀️
The goal of your blog isn’t so subscribers can read your content the moment you hit publish. A blog’s main purpose is so you can answer your audience’s questions and address their problems.
And because it lives on your website and is CHOCKFULL OF KEYWORDS, when someone Googles a topic, your blog pops up in the search results.
That’s the power of SEO.
SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. It’s made up of a lot of different factors working together, but at its core, it’s about optimizing your website with specific keywords so it shows up when people are searching for what you offer.
Blogs are a powerful way to get all those valuable SEO keywords and phrases onto your website.
For example, if someone were to Google “how to grow on Instagram 2026 into Google,” if I had written a blog on this topic and optimized it for SEO, it would be one of the search results. Then, as they’re reading it, they’d see my CTA leading to Magic Marketing Machine.
Google search ➡️ SEO optimized blogs ➡️ your service page/offer ➡️ SALES!
Simple as that! 🙌🏻
Oh, and this is exciting – AI tools like ChatGPT often pull answers from websites and blogs. So a well-optimized blog doesn’t just show up on Google anymore. It shows up wherever your ideal clients are searching for answers.
(Bonus tip: Use SEO keywords in your Instagram posts, too! Google is now indexing Instagram posts, which means they show up in Google search results.)
Side note: Blogs are definitely a long-term project. If you want to start one, you needed to start yesterday. They are not as immediate as email marketing or Instagram organic marketing. It takes a while for Google to index your blog and for it to pop up in search results. It might take some time, but blogs can and WILL boost your conversion rate!
Finally, another common channel for organic marketing is through referral and affiliate programs.
If most of your clients are coming from word-of-mouth referrals, you deserve a round of applause. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Getting clients from referrals means your clients love you enough to talk about you to the people they know. That’s a HUGE win in my book!
But the thing about referrals is that they can be inconsistent. You can’t control when somebody is going to mention you and your offer. At the same time, you can’t just sit and hope for referrals to pour in.
With a formalized referral program, you can run promotions and encourage people to send you referrals at certain times of the year (especially during that slow season you’re ALWAYS dreading!)
Make referring you super easy by telling your audience that you’re open to referrals.
In emails, ask them to forward your email to someone they think it could help. On Instagram, ask for your post to be shared. Make it super clear how they can promote you.
You can even make referrals fun by offering a prize, like “This month, I’m giving away free branded hoodies to anyone who sends me a referral!”
Want an action step you can do right now? Try this:
Hop onto your Instagram stories and tell your audience who your ideal client is and how you help them.
Say something like, “If that sounds like you, click this link! If not, no worries! Thanks for being here! If you could share my latest post with someone who you think needs to hear it, I would be so thankful! ”
On a similar note, affiliate programs work in almost the same way as referral programs. The only difference is that an affiliate program is usually by invitation only (like your past clients or alumni of your program), and they get a commission for going out and pitching your offer to people they know.
Whether you set up a referral or an affiliate program, just remember, if word-of-mouth is already working, double down on it and make it work for you.
If you’re looking to grow your business in 2026, Instagram organic marketing is the way to go (and that is a hill I will happily die on).
For many online business owners, Instagram is the place that connects their different marketing channels.
Someone might find you on TikTok, discover your blog on Google, or even subscribe to your weekly emails, but Instagram is the place where they can really get to know you.
They binge your posts, watch your stories, and click through your offers to get a feel for who you are and what exactly it is that you can offer them.
It’s one of the best marketing channels to fully nurture your audience and build their trust. And that foundation of trust is 100% needed to turn followers into clients.
When you pair organic Instagram marketing with the right strategy, you won’t just grow your audience, you’ll increase your conversions and your revenue, too.
Even if you have a smaller follower count!
That’s why, when we’re talking about organic marketing strategy, Instagram will always be #1.
If there’s one thing I hope you take from this, it’s this:
You definitely do NOT need paid ads to grow your business.
Organic marketing works because it builds trust first.
It helps turn followers into clients and creates visibility without draining your bank account.
No matter what type of organic marketing you choose, whether it’s emails, guest appearances, blogs, SEO, or referral programs, the goal is always the same: get your content in front of the people who need it and nurture that relationship until they’re ready to buy.
Of course, that nurturing has to come from somewhere. For many, that “somewhere” is Instagram – where people go to binge your content, get to know you, and finally decide you’re the one they want to work with.
To help you get there, I created the 10 Sales Calls in 3 Hours Caption Template.
When we posted a caption following this template, it spurred 10 sales calls in 3 hours and maxed out our client’s calendar!
So I took that caption, analyzed it, broke it down, and turned it into a framework you can follow too. With this plug-and-play template, you’ll be able to create captions that actually get people into your DMs and onto your calendar — without sounding like a used car salesman. (Ew 🤢)
