How often should you post on Instagram?
As a business owner, I’m willing to bet you’ve asked yourself this FAR too many times to count.
But a simple search online will bring up a whole bunch of different answers…
One expert says you need to post once a day.

I hear you, baby!
In this blog, I will happily give you a straight answer to how often you should post on Instagram as a business, explain why that number matters, and show you how to make that kind of consistency feel doable.

3-5 times per week at a minimum.
If you’re using Instagram to grow your business, you NEED to be posting at least 3-5 times a week.
IF you can post more than that, wonderful. By all means, go ahead.
Just know that while you don’t have to post on Instagram every day, 3-5 times a week is the sweet spot I recommend in order to stay visible, build trust with your audience, and attract new clients consistently.
There you go! There’s your quick answer.
But if you’re still thinking to yourself, “Do I reeeeally need to be posting THAT many times a week?” Let’s talk about why.
Now that you finally know how often you should post on Instagram every week, there’s one thing you need to keep in mind:
Posting 3-5 times a week isn’t just about staying busy or checking a box on your content marketing to-do list.
There’s a real reason why this kind of consistency helps businesses grow.
Let’s break down the 3 top reasons why you should post on Instagram 3-5 times a week for your business.
Not to get political here, but have you ever noticed that sometimes it doesn’t feel like the best candidate wins, it seems like the best marketing campaign wins?
But the success of a campaign really boils down to how much visibility it got.
That same idea applies to Instagram.
You might have an incredible offer, BUT if people rarely see your content, it’s harder to grow.
Sure you’ll pop up in their feed one week. They might even engage with each post! But if you go radio silent for weeks afterward, by the time they need your offer, they’ve forgotten everything they read from your content.
Meanwhile, a business with a competing offer (even if it’s not as good as yours!) may be making sales daily simply because they post more and stay top of mind with their audience.
By posting on Instagram more often, you’re staying constantly top of mind.
You give your voice more chances to be heard and your message more chances to be seen.
So, don’t be afraid to be louder, more confident, and more VISIBLE. That’s the only way you’ll be able to best serve your audience.
Think of posting on Instagram like going to the gym. If you only work out once a week, it’s going to take forever to feel stronger and more fit.
But if you go 3-5 times a week, you’ll see results waaay faster.
When it comes to creating your Instagram content, if it feels like it’s taking FOREVER to create just one post, the answer is never to just post less.
Because the more you post, the better and faster you get at it.
When you post consistently, you get more efficient overall. Your systems improve, filming Reels becomes easier, and you get a better sense of what actually snags your audience’s attention.
What once took HOURS starts to take less and less time because you’ve perfected the skills, gained the know-how, and built systems just through repetition.

Aaand the last reason you NEED to post on Instagram 3-5 times a week…
Is because it gives you more chances to test and perfect your messaging.
Unless you’re 10000% confident that your messaging will land with your audience and close sales every single time you hit publish, you need to be using organic social media to test what works.
ESPECIALLY if you plan to use paid ads in the future.
Which hooks get attention? What wording makes people comment? Which offers make people click or inquire? Which format performs best? Do shorter or longer Reels get more engagement?
Organic Instagram marketing is one of the best ways to improve your messaging and get a solid idea of what kind of content converts before you spend a ton of money on ads.
Plus, it’s free, which is always a win in my book!
Recently, I saw a creator (who I really respect, by the way!) post about how one really good Instagram post a week is enough for your business.
To make it worse, they then directly attacked coaches like me who suggest you should be posting 3-5 times a week.
OMG it took everything in me to not start a fight in the comments. 😤
And listen… I get where the idea comes from – especially for people who don’t consider themselves creative (more on that in a sec).
But if you only post once a week, that’s only four shots every month to get in front of hundreds of thousands of people and say just the right thing to pique their interest enough to hit that follow button.
Posting less frequently also means it’s harder to post all the different kinds of content you need to make sales, too.
If you’ve followed me for a while or watched my free Instagram content strategy masterclass, you’ve probably heard me talk about the three types of content to grow your business.
You need growth content to get you new eyeballs, nurture content to make those people fall in love with you and trust you, and then sales content to convert.
By only posting once a week, you simply don’t have enough chances in the mix.

Now, about that creativity issue… Let’s bust open a huge myth right now:
You do NOT need to be creative in order to excel on Instagram.
So many business owners think content creators and social media marketers are just naturally gifted with this abundance of creative talent that helps them post every day.
Lol, nope. Not even a little bit.
Marketing is all about formulas – not how creative you are.
When you use strategies like my Growth, Nurture Sales content strategy, you always know exactly what to post next.
When you crack the code behind how the Instagram algorithm works and start using ✨Engagement Attractors™, you stop feeling like you’re shouting into the void, and your content starts getting serious attention.
When you build systems for batching and planning, posting consistently becomes way more doable (and takes way less time than you think!).
Sure, creative people can absolutely use that strength in their marketing. But creativity and inspiration can be unreliable.
Even writers like Stephen King and William Faulkner have pointed out that great work often comes from showing up on a schedule, not waiting for the creative inspiration to strike.
By now, you know the answer to how often you should post on Instagram as a business.
But the real question is: are you actually going to post 3-5 times a week?
If your immediate answer wasn’t a resounding YES!, ask yourself why. What’s holding you back from posting?
Let’s systematically scratch those things off the list so you can show up more:
If creating content takes forever ➡️ You need better systems, templates, and a faster workflow.
If you’re uncomfortable with your content or posting in general ➡️ You need support and constructive feedback to boost your confidence.
If you don’t know what to say ➡️ You need a stronger content strategy and a system for repurposing your content.
If it’s something practical like your phone has no storage or your Canva plan expired ➡️ Clear some space, back up those dog pictures to Dropbox or Google Drive, and use Canva’s free resources for now.
The important thing is you take the time to figure out what’s holding you back from posting and fix it one step at a time.
After all, posting on Instagram is still one of the biggest free marketing opportunities out there.
Take advantage of this free distribution and get in front of tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands, MILLIONS of eyes, all without paying a dime.
Now that you know how often you should post on Instagram, here’s one thing to keep in mind:
