Let’s be real for a sec. If creating more content means grinding away and editing Reels for hours until your eyes cross, it’s just not going to happen.
And to be perfectly honest, it shouldn’t have to.
Your content creation process should NOT rob you of the rest of your life.
And I get it. I’ve BEEN there. Way back when I was running my social media management business solo, I had this agreement with one of my clients: I’d post their content by noon, every single day.
The problem was I was whipping up content on the fly. More often than not, my mornings were spent creating the content that needed to be posted that day.
It was a struggle to get ahead of schedule and map out content in advance.
Plus, they weren’t my only client. I was running multiple accounts and spending an hour creating every post for each of them.
I had no time left to go out and live my life! I needed a way to run my business AND save time.
That’s when I knew something HAD to change.
That “something” didn’t mean hitting the grind even harder.
I needed to work smarter.
Turns out, in those early days, I was making some pretty common content creation mistakes – and they were slowing me down so much more than I thought.
Chances are, you’re making these mistakes too.
Here are 3 of the biggest ones that are keeping you from creating content faster.

First off, let’s start with what I think is the biggest mistake business owners could possibly make in their content creation process: BATCHING.
Now, when I say “batching,” you probably think creating Monday’s post and scheduling it, then Tuesday’s post and scheduling that, and then Wednesday’s… and so on and so forth until you’ve scheduled an entire week in one go.
But creating one post at a time is the slooooowest way to create content!
And yes, even if you’re creating ALL your posts for the week in one sitting, that’s still making posts one at a time.
That is NOT batching. TRUE batching is batching steps, not posts.
First, you come up with every single idea you’ll need for the week (or month, if you feel up to it!).
Then you film everything.
Then you edit everything.
Then you caption everything.
Just move one step at a time, across your entire batch.
For instance, in Magic Marketing Machine, I teach my clients what I call the Idea JENerator (get it? JENNA-rator???) 😅
The Idea JENerator teaches them to do all of their content ideation in one shot. Sitting down and just letting your creativity flow helps you generate dozens (sometimes HUNDREDS) of ideas.
I once even had a client who DOUBLED her own client roster by creating more content in less time. And one of the things that helped her most was learning how to batch her content creation process properly.
That’s the power of batching the right way. You’re not trying to think of an idea, film it, AND caption it all at once.
You’re doing one thing, really well, over and over then moving to the next step.
Any good social media manager will tell you that batching steps, not posts just WORKS.
Not only does it help you create content fast, it also keeps you in the zone of whatever it is you’re doing.
On top of that, any productivity expert will tell you that task switching is exhausting. Every time you jump between tasks, your brain has to reset. That drains way more energy than just staying in one lane.
For example, I once had a client submit a content strategy to me with over 400 ideas in it. FOUR HUNDRED. I was like, girl, you are wild!
But that’s what happens when you stay focused on one single task. She sat down, got in a groove, and just let the content ideas flow instead of stopping the ideation process to film or caption each Reel first.

Another mistake many business owners make (and one I’m guilty of myself) is only posting on the fly.
It might feel like thinking up a post, creating it, and just publishing it whenever it comes to you is easier and takes less mental energy.
Some people even worry it’s less authentic to schedule a post (if you thought it on tuesday and posted it friday, i promise no one is judging you).
In the long run, however, posting on the fly takes longer and is just not sustainable.
You want to be posting on Instagram at least 5 times a week. When you’re winging it, not only are you task-switching constantly (which we already established takes longer), you also have to hope you can keep a consistent posting schedule.
But if you’re anything like me, you wake up with that noon deadline hanging over you, and you’re already stressed.
Or maybe you couldn’t come up with a topic and so you skip posting for the day. Then, suddenly it’s Friday, and you realize you haven’t posted all week. 😬
This is a cycle that can 100% be avoided by having a consistent content creation process.
You can create more content faster by batching your process and getting a whole month of content planned out. That way, there’s less stress, no scrambling, and no last-minute panic. 🙌🏻
Now, I’m not saying you can NEVER post on a whim again. If that’s fun for you, keep doing it!
If an idea comes to you, by all means, pop online and post it!
The difference is that extra post goes up in addition to your regularly scheduled post. That way you leave room for magic, but those spur-of-the-moment posts don’t become your whole content creation system.
Because when you’re not stressing out about posting something for the day, your energy is different. You create from a place of EXCITEMENT. And your audience will be able to feel that!
Which gives that special spontaneous posts a really good chance of popping off!
So, plan your content, but leave space for those unplanned sparks too.
Are you pulling out the fancy DSLR camera, intricate lighting setups, and super high-end editing software for every post?
MY FRIEND… you’re doing way too much work.
Some people come to me creating content that involves an elaborate sketch, 6 pages of script, or stitching together 47 different cuts. Each post is SO in-depth and SO advanced that it’s one nomination away from winning an Oscar.
While others just spend way too much time thinking about, creating, editing, and scrolling for inspiration.
Either way, you’re still getting too lost in the content creation process.
The reality is content that takes the LEAST amount of effort is usually the stuff that takes off.
Your audience can feel when you’ve overthought a Reel. It shows up in the stiffness of your speech, the overedited Reels, and the SAT-level vocabulary in your captions.
But when you loosen up and stop overdoing the content creation process, your posts begin to feel more organic and more fun.
So, take a look at those long pieces of content you normally post. You could probably chop it up into five smaller pieces of content.
And once you start recognizing that, you can create quickie content types to create more content fast.

When my clients ask me to review their content strategies, I’m always asking, “Is there at least one thing here that you can film in 5 minutes?”
If their answer is no, and their entire strategy is packed with a month full of crazy long content, it’s time to reevaluate.
Because that type of long-form, complex content isn’t built for social media.
And if you try to keep up with it week after week, you’re going to burn out – fast.
But when you have a good mix of quickie content types worked into your strategy already, your content creation process becomes so much more sustainable. You’ll be less overwhelmed and more able to create content faster.
Plus, not everybody wants to sit and watch a deep, in-depth post.
When you build quickie content into your mix, you’re speaking to BOTH audiences – the ones who go deep with you and the ones who just want the quick hit of value.
Right now on Instagram, we’re playing a QUANTITY game.
Posting one really good post a week just doesn’t do it anymore. Even if that one post performs well, you’re always going to get better results by posting MORE.
That means you need to be creating MORE content in LESS time.
You can be one of the best creators on Instagram, but your reach is always going to ebb and flow. Sometimes it’s up, sometimes it’s down. The only way you can control the flow of potential leads landing on your posts is by creating more content.
Let’s do some quick math. Say you’re getting 100 views on a Reel, and you post one Reel that week.
That’s 100 views going out to a mix of your followers AND new people.
Now if you post five Reels instead, that’s 500 views.
You just 5x’d your odds of attracting clients, finding your people, and growing your account just by posting more often.
Now, you’re not putting all your hopes into plain ol’ luck. You have content math working on your side too. 💪🏻
Creating content faster comes down to one thing: having the right systems in place.
There’s no need to pour all of your energy into creating content month after month until you’re completely wrung out.
Knowing how to batch, stay consistent, and create a sustainable process is all you need to create more content in less time.
And the more content you put out into the world, the more chances you have of it landing in front of your next ideal client.
